You may have seen a recent headline: “U.S. at Risk of Crippling Cyber Attack”. While we hope a cyber attack never occurs, such an attack could include spying via the internet or disruption of internet access.

Four protective actions you can take:

  1. Consider contingency plans that for a time would allow you to continue doing business without access to the internet
  2. Try to arrange for local access to data that today is accessible only via the internet such as financial data, contact information, data on websites, backups, etc.
  3. Assure that you are taking all reasonable precautions to protect your computers against attack such as firewall, anti-virus protection, passwords, etc.
  4. As much as possible try to select United States based suppliers for your software and hardware
