Do you lock the door to your business after hours? Without a doubt, you do. Likewise computers and computer accounts should be “locked” in order to secure your valuable information.

Password Suggestions:

  1. Make It Strong A strong computer password will have a minimum of 6 characters which include a mixture of UPPER CASE and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols.
  2. Keep It Unique – Computer hackers often use “dictionary attacks” to guess passwords; therefore, avoid using actual words from any language.
  3. Make It Memorable “I praise loudly, I blame softly” can become Ipl,I6s by using the first letter of each word, retaining the comma, and substituting a “6” for the visually similar “b”. Obviously, you should not use this example but instead create your own password.
  4. Vary It – To decrease the likelihood of a thief gaining widespread access to your information, avoid using the same password in multiple areas.
  5. Change It – Frequently changing passwords improves security.
